Our nails and cuticles take a battering every day because of the harsh chemicals we expose them to daily from hand washing, dishwashing, cleaning products, detergents, hand sanitizers etc. Because of these necessary activities our nails and cuticles can become dry, brittle, and weak over time. Therefore, it is important that we remember to take care of our nails too so that they can stay healthy.
Nails can easily crack and break because they are dry from all the above-mentioned actions. The number one thing that they need to prevent or repair this damage is to provide them with nourishment and moisture. Fortunately, there is a very simple and easy way to achieve this and that is to apply a nail and cuticle oil daily and/or nightly. Think of it as ‘food’ for your nails and cuticles.
Nail & Cuticle Oil is not very well known but it is a great way to strengthen and soften your nails and cuticles. The best part is that it's just 1 simple step. Rub the oil into your nails and cuticles and voila you're done. I found the best time to apply is right before bed that way there is lots of time for the oil to work while you're sleeping. If you like, it can also be applied in the morning preferably at a time that you will be less likely to wet your hands.
Nail oil can also provide a lasting shine to your nail polish. Just make sure you apply the nail oil after the polish otherwise the nail polish will not adhere to your nails. Additionally, applying nail oil after a manicure hydrates your nails and cuticles. You can also use nail oil to give a fresh shine to an old manicure by simply just applying the oil over the nail polish.
There are several carrier and essential oils that can help your nails become strong. Oils with high vitamin E content are excellent for nails because they can rejuvenate and restore dry nails and cuticles by providing moisture and nourishment.
Some exceptional carrier oils that are naturally high in Vitamin E and are great choices for your nails are Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, Almond Oil, Prickly Pear Seed Oil and even Olive Oil. If you would like to try some essential oils for your nails your best options are Lemon Oil, Lavender Oil, Tea Tree Oil, and Myrrh Oil. The carrier oils can be used as is but remember to dilute the essential oils with one of these carrier oils because they are quite potent and could possibly cause irritation if not diluted properly.
Our Nail & Cuticle Oil blend includes two of Morocco's extraordinary beauty oils... Argan Oil and Prickly Pear Seed Oil. Both have high concentrations of Vitamin E naturally which has been shown to increase nail strength.
In the end, it’s your choice! You can use a ready-made blend like ours or you can choose one of the beauty oils rich in Vitamin E and/or the essential oils that I mentioned above. The most important thing is to not neglect your nails and cuticles because they also need love and care to be healthy and strong!
